Here Are Quick Tips To Relieve From Bunion Pain

Bunion pain

Bunion pain

Too bad my wife has it on her right foot. I did some research online and some experts say that it is because of the very tight shoes with a narrow toe box that she wears or most of women do. But I say it’s hereditary. Why? It is because my father-in-law has bunion as well!

It’s so unsightly and painful that sometimes you think of surgery as the best option. For those who don’t know what is bunion, it’s the inflamed bone of the big toe that appears on the middle side, shoving y our big toe to the next toe like a fallen tree.

It can ruin the alignment of the bones next to the big toe which cause the bottom of the foot to be painful all the time. I think it has something to do with the missing medial arch of the foot. Try to inspect yours. My wife does have the classic flat foot which causes more slips and outbalances that she frequently has.

There are some exercises and alternative bunion pain relief provided by alternative medicine that you can choose upon as follows.

Stretching the big toe is one of the best ways to reduce or eliminate bunion pain. Sit with the legs outstretched on the floor with heels side by side and touching. Loop a thick and stiff rubber band around both big toes. Keeping heels together, move the tops of your leg apart so they form a V shape, hold stretch for 5 to 10 seconds or as tolerated. This will help strengthen the little muscles on the big toe.

Massage Bunion

For fast bunion relief, ice is the best and obviously the faster option. Apply the ice wrap on a towel, for 10 minute cycles. Meaning, 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off to be done two to three times a day, specially when there is bunion pain. If you have aspirin, you can mix 4 tablets in a basin of warm water and soak the feet for 10 to 15 minutes but if there would be skin irritation, discontinue usage.

Massage is the favorite option for bunion pain. It relieves the aches and releases tight muscles around the foot. You can have this done in a massage parlor. Make emphasis on the tight muscles above your ankle, continuing down to the bottom of your foot, where the arch is supposedly present. This will help increase circulation on that abused area of the foot.

Find Your Root Cause of Teeth Grinding: How to Prevent Bruxism

Is bruxism harmful?

Is bruxism harmful?

Bruxism also known as teeth grinding, is one of the many health conditions that most sufferers are unaware of. It usually occurs during sleep and unless a sore jaw and other oral complications arise, most people never realize that they suffer from teeth grinding.

Teeth grinding is normal at some point, especially if the frequency is quite low. However, it becomes a problem if it occurs more frequently. Teeth grinding can lead to other health problems like wearing down of teeth, tooth loss and even jaw damages leading to hearing loss. This is why preventing teeth grinding and minimizing its occurrence is of utmost importance.

Here are some simple ways for you to prevent it.

The most visible and probably the most common preventive measure for teeth grinding is a mouth guard. A mouth guard can help protect your teeth should you be grinding your teeth at night. You can ask your dentist to make one especially for you. Make sure to wear it everytime you sleep otherwise all efforts will go to waste.

There are numerous cases of teeth grinding where the cause is stress. When people get stressed, they have a higher tendency to grind their teeth during sleep at night. Try to limit occasions of being stressed by taking a warm bath before bed or try to talk out your problems with friends and family.

If you are currently suffering from jaw pains and discomfort, try to avoid consuming food that entails a lot of chewing. This will give your jaw some time to relax. More importantly, consult a dentist immediately.

What You Can Do At Home to Relief Meningitis Symptoms

Meningitis symptoms

Meningitis symptoms

Meningitis generally refers to a health condition that involves inflammation of the lining supporting and surrounding the brain and the spinal cord. It is a very serious health condition that needs to be treated by a doctor as soon as possible.

The meningitis symptoms include high fever, skin rashes and infected ears, nose and throat among others. Although meningitis calls for professional advice, there are still natural remedies that you can do to help tone down or alleviate the meningitis symptoms – especially high fever.

Here are a few of them.

If the person suffering from meningitis is having a high fever – which is pretty much likely – give the person a cold compress. The cold compress helps bring down the patient’s body temperature.

All that is needed to be done is to secure a cold pack. If you can’t find any, you can make one yourself by placing ice cubes in a plastic container.

Make sure to wrap the plastic container in a towel before you apply it to the patient’s body. You can apply it to the forehead or head area and also to the whole body.

Just make sure to change the cold pack every three hours and to have hot water bottles by the patient’s feet and body side.

Another way to lower down body temperature is for the patient to drink plenty of fluids – water, diluted orange juice or unsweetened lemon water.

You may also add in garlic to water, fruit juices and other liquid food that you will be feeding the patient. Garlic has been known to be significant in treating meningitis.

Bird flu can be prevented as long as we take nessasary presonal hygiene

With the H7N9 China bird flu scare happening right now, more and more families are getting worried of contacting the disease. Reports say that all the selling of poultry products have been halted in the said country as of early April this year.

Although you might not be living in China, the fact that the avian or bird flu has migrating birds as “spreaders” is a topmost concern. Here are a few tips to keep you and your family safe during the bird flu epidemic.

Make sure to cook poultry products well. Avian virus or bird virus is generally destroyed and killed by heat. In cooking chicken, make sure that the meat has turned white (not pink) and the juices no longer have traces of blood. To be sure, check that the cooked chicken has 74 degrees Celsius as its internal temperature.

In preparing to cook poultry products, make sure to wash all utensils and anything else that has come in contact with the raw poultry product. It is best to wash it with hot soapy water. Kitchen utensils like chopping boards and the knife should be cleaned thoroughly.

As much as possible, avoid consuming raw eggs. Raw or even undercooked eggs are harmful not because of their content but because of their outer covering or the eggshell which may be contaminated.

Always remember to wash your hands. Wash your hands with soap and water for an appropriate length of time. If you cannot do it with soap and water, use a hand sanitizer or even alcohol.

No matter what, always take pre cautious when dealing with raw meat. Make sure the meat is fully cooked before eating.
