4 Simple Tips on How to Prevent Hepatitis

Hepatitis can be prevented

Hepatitis can be prevented

Hepatitis refers to a health condition wherein the liver is inflamed due to viral infection. Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C which are what we call the three main types of hepatitis.

Hepatitis A is primarily transmitted through fecal and oral contact. This means that the Hepatitis A virus can be spread by being in contact with people who are diagnosed with Hepatitis A or by consuming drinks and beverages that are feces laden (no matter how small the amount is).

Hepatitis B and C are primarily transmitted through contact with body fluids such as semen and infected blood. This means that the Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C viruses can be transmitted through sexual activity, sharing of needles either through medical procedures or drug use and even passed on from mother to child upon giving birth.

There are vaccinations to prevent Hepatitis A and B but not Hepatitis C. Here are a few preventive tips that might help lower the chances of getting hepatitis.

  • Regularly wash your hands.

Hand washing is one great, simple and often overlooked preventive tip for contacting most diseases and illnesses. Hand washing is particularly effective in preventing Hepatitis A as this type of Hepatitis is transmitted through the fecal – oral route. Wash your hands often most especially if you do not know who is handling the food you’re about to consume or how the food is prepared.

  • Observe proper use of needles. Ensure that needles are used for one time only and are not recycled.
  • Get vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B.
  • Practice safe sex. Always be protected.

The Numerous Health Benefits of Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been around for a thousand of years already. It originated in China and has spread rapidly to Western Europe, the United States of America and even to Canada. Acupuncture is a process that involves having to insert very thin needles onto your skin.

Usually, practitioners of acupuncture insert needles in the back, on the face or to any other body part that somehow needs relief. The insertion of the needle can vary greatly in depths and the needle also varies in size. Acupuncture is said to have therapeutic effects like pain alleviation and relief from nausea.

Practitioners and patients of acupuncture have claimed numerous health benefits although no scientific study has yet proven the validity of such claims. Some of the health benefits are the following:

  • Relief from chronic pain

The Dangers of Lipstick: Possible Lead Content

Lead is found in lipsticks can cause cancer

Lead is found in lipsticks can cause cancer

I came across an article today, saying that in the year 2003, several females were on high alert due to a certain terrifying email.

The contents of the email were highly troubling not only to females but to everyone who wears lipsticks.

The email said that most of the popular lipstick brands like Christian Dior, Lancome, Clinique, Yves Saint Laurent, Estee Lauder, Shiseido, Red Earth (Lip Gloss), Chanel (Lip Conditioner) contained traces of lead that can cause cancer.

This email has been found to be highly flawed and is deemed a hoax – resulting only in false alarm and a bad reputation for the brands mentioned.

Although the email content is highly flawed – most especially in terms of reference to such popular brands, it is quite true that lead can be lethal to humans.

Lead is a dangerous substance to humans – causing numerous deterioration of health. Side effects include behavioral problems, learning disabilities, seizures and even death.

It is generally a neurotoxin and can lead to health cases such as miscarriages (for pregnant women), infertility, brain damage and even cancer.

Lead has been found to be present in various household items most especially in paints, solders in plumbing joints and some are also found in children’s toys.

Finding lead in the cosmetic products that one uses on his or her face, especially on the lips is highly frightening. From absorption to ingestion, lead can make its way into your body in various ways.

In the year 2007, the US Food and Drug Administration said that even though there are small amounts or traces of lead in lipstick, it is unlikely to cause cancer.
