Anemia is a nutritional deficiency that involves a decrease in blood cell count and the blood’s hemoglobin content. There are various causes for anemia including blood loss and the death and termination of red blood cells.
Anemia can be a threat to your health as it can lead to oxygen deprivation, fatigue or the stopping of bodily functions. It is quite difficult to prevent anemia but it can be highly avoided by eating iron rich foods like green leafy vegetables, liver, dried fruits, breads and pastas. - Dry Cereal
Dry cereal without sugar can be a great home treatment for anemia. Cereals are often fortified with vitamin B12, folic acid and iron.
- Spinach
Spinach can provide cheap and effective treatment for anemia since it contains lots of folic acid and iron. You can consume it raw by adding it to salads or you can sauté spinach with other vegetables and some meat. Spinach can also be steamed to preserve its nutritional content.
- Beets
Beets are highly known for their potassium, fiber and folic acid content. There are lots of ways to prepare beets but one of the recipes getting more popular is simply keeping the skin on and cooking it through the microwave. Make sure to peel off the skin before consuming it though.
- Blackstrap Molasses
Blackstrap molasses is also known as “blood builder” with 3.5 mg. of iron content in each tablespoon. It is highly sweet and can be used in waffles and pancakes.
