Meningitis generally refers to a health condition that involves inflammation of the lining supporting and surrounding the brain and the spinal cord. It is a very serious health condition that needs to be treated by a doctor as soon as possible.
The meningitis symptoms include high fever, skin rashes and infected ears, nose and throat among others. Although meningitis calls for professional advice, there are still natural remedies that you can do to help tone down or alleviate the meningitis symptoms – especially high fever.
Here are a few of them.
If the person suffering from meningitis is having a high fever – which is pretty much likely – give the person a cold compress. The cold compress helps bring down the patient’s body temperature.
All that is needed to be done is to secure a cold pack. If you can’t find any, you can make one yourself by placing ice cubes in a plastic container.
Make sure to wrap the plastic container in a towel before you apply it to the patient’s body. You can apply it to the forehead or head area and also to the whole body.
Just make sure to change the cold pack every three hours and to have hot water bottles by the patient’s feet and body side.
Another way to lower down body temperature is for the patient to drink plenty of fluids – water, diluted orange juice or unsweetened lemon water.
You may also add in garlic to water, fruit juices and other liquid food that you will be feeding the patient. Garlic has been known to be significant in treating meningitis.
