When we are talking about buying toothpaste from store, We know some of the popular brand that we can name of like Colgate, Aqua Fresh, Crest etc. I wonder if you have ever think about homemade toothtaste?
Try it at home. Making your very own homemade toothpaste can not only be fun and exciting but can also help you save up a few bucks on those toothpaste tubes. What’s even better is that you know exactly what your toothpaste is made of – without the need for chemicals, stabilizers and whatnots. Here are a few toothpaste recipes that are worth a try.
- Matt & Betsy’s Toothpaste Recipe
Ingredients:
2/3 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon of finely ground salt or sea salt
1-2 teaspoons of peppermint oil or any other flavoring you wish to try
Filtered water
Directions:
Simply combine all the ingredients except water. Add water in slowly according to your desired consistency. The resulting form should ideally be that of a paste. Store it in a container and scoop out whenever you want to brush your teeth.
- Vegetarian Toothpaste
Ingredients:
4 tablespoons baking soda
8 tablespoons water
5 drops of peppermint oil or any other flavoring you wish to try
2 teaspoons vegetable glycerin
1/2 teaspoon guar gum
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except oil into a pan over low heat. Stir frequently for five minutes until a paste consistency has been achieved. Allow to cool to room temperature and add in the oil. Store your homemade toothpaste in a jar and scoop out whenever you want to brush your teeth.
- Coconut Toothpaste
Ingredients:
6 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide
2 tablespoons coconut oil
10 drops peppermint oil or any other flavoring you with to try
Directions:
Combine all ingredients until a paste consistency is achieved. If it is runny, add more baking soda. If the paste is too dry, add more coconut oil. Store in a jar and use whenever needed.
