Bad breath

Whether it’s a one time I-forgot-to-brush-my-teeth-last-night moment or a pretty much regular case of bad breath, you can always do something to get rid of it.

Bad breath is not only caused by the tons of bacteria in your mouth but may also because of what food you ate, medicines you took and even an illness like diabetes. Here are a few things that you can do so you can say goodbye or lessen those bad breath moments.

Don’t forget to brush your teethIt sounds simple but most people forget to brush their teeth every after each meal. Some even just opt for gums instead to freshen up their breath. Brushing your teeth – even without toothpaste can help remove bacteria from your mouth.

Clean your tongue can reduce bad breath

Clean your tongue can reduce bad breath

Clean your tongue too! All the food that gets into your mouth passes the tongue. Because of the tongue’s rough surface, it has more chances of retaining food debris and eventually, bacteria. You can clean your tongue by using your toothbrush or better yet, use a tongue cleaner.

Use an antibacterial mouthwash.Antibacterial mouthwashes kill bacteria which are the primary culprits for bad breath. Never mind those mouthwashes who claim to freshen your breath – you can do so by killing bacteria with the antibacterial type.

Mind what you eat. Eat a well balanced diet. Avoid extreme dieting like adopting a low carbohydrate diet as these types of dieting will cause bad breath. Avoid eating garlic, onions and spicy foods. What you eat is absorbed by the bloodstream and it comes out when you breathe through your lungs.

Keep hydrated. Drinking enough water most especially in the morning when you wake up can help prevent morning breath. Bad breath in the morning is due to dehydration and lesser saliva throughout the night.

Little known way to remove bad breath

A malodorous mouth can NEVER be completely cleaned by brushing and flossing alone. Even if you use the most expensive mouthwash and toothpaste available in the market, BAD BREATH (halitosis) can’t be completely eradicated by these common methods alone.

If you have bad breath, try to use tongue scraper if helps

Sometimes the flavored and sugary mints can only temporarily mask the stingy problem. What’s more, the alcohol in most mouthwashes can only do more harm than good to your body.

I personally prefer to use the most complicated and state of the art gadget for my everyday oral hygiene. It’s called tongue scraper. Heard of it? It’s so simple a device made of plastic or lightweight material that will serve as a manual cleaner of the major organ than houses most of the oral bacteria.

After doing your usual brushing, scrape the top and sides of the tongue, avoiding the underside. Try to remove the white, gooey substance that sticks to the tongue. Most likely, these are the odor causing bacteria that causes the stingy smell out of your mouth.

Some doctors will also recommend digestive enzymes as poor digestion can also cause the severe bad breath since poorly digested food can spoil inside your intestine.

There are also some herbs like ginger, coriander and fennel. These herbs are mostly available in gelatin form. Take one capsule every after meal with a little water. Never mind if you smell of ginger and herbs, as most people would rather smell organic stuff than industrial toxic waste like odor.
