Whether it’s a one time I-forgot-to-brush-my-teeth-last-night moment or a pretty much regular case of bad breath, you can always do something to get rid of it.
Bad breath is not only caused by the tons of bacteria in your mouth but may also because of what food you ate, medicines you took and even an illness like diabetes. Here are a few things that you can do so you can say goodbye or lessen those bad breath moments.
Don’t forget to brush your teeth. It sounds simple but most people forget to brush their teeth every after each meal. Some even just opt for gums instead to freshen up their breath. Brushing your teeth – even without toothpaste can help remove bacteria from your mouth.
Clean your tongue too! All the food that gets into your mouth passes the tongue. Because of the tongue’s rough surface, it has more chances of retaining food debris and eventually, bacteria. You can clean your tongue by using your toothbrush or better yet, use a tongue cleaner.
Use an antibacterial mouthwash.Antibacterial mouthwashes kill bacteria which are the primary culprits for bad breath. Never mind those mouthwashes who claim to freshen your breath – you can do so by killing bacteria with the antibacterial type.
Mind what you eat. Eat a well balanced diet. Avoid extreme dieting like adopting a low carbohydrate diet as these types of dieting will cause bad breath. Avoid eating garlic, onions and spicy foods. What you eat is absorbed by the bloodstream and it comes out when you breathe through your lungs.
Keep hydrated. Drinking enough water most especially in the morning when you wake up can help prevent morning breath. Bad breath in the morning is due to dehydration and lesser saliva throughout the night.
