Ever felt like wanting to go but something seems to be holding you back? If you feel bloated and always full with a weirdly round tummy, then you must be constipated. Constipation is not only bothersome and uncomfortable but it is also very much unhealthy. Here are a few tips to help prevent being constipated.
- Keep yourself hydrated. Drink enough fluids everyday – about 8 to 10 glasses of non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated beverages. Try fresh juices like apple juice and apple cider, orange juice, pineapple juice and others if you are not a fan of water. Keep off softdrinks, coffee and alcoholic beverages.
- Include vegetables and fruits in your diet. Vegetables and fruits contain fiber which can help regulate your bowel movement. Also, some fruits like ripe bananas and vegetables like rhubarb are natural laxatives.
- If you already have constipation, try taking some blackstrap molasses. Take 2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses before going to bed. It is not advisable to get a dose of blackstrap molasses everyday though, because of its high calorie content. Most people do not like its taste so you might want to mix it with other juices that have strong flavors.
- Much like blackstrap molasses is honey – a high calorie natural laxative. You can mix 1 tablespoon of honey with water or apple cider. Drink one mixture of this combination three times a day.
Try taking in oil. You can directly take 2 to 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil like soybean and safflower each day. If directly consuming oil is too much for you, try to include it in salads by mixing it with herbs, lemon juice or even vinegar. The oil provides lubrication in the intestines and will help regulate bowel movement.
